about

All profits from the sales of this album will benefit Girls Rock Camp Toronto; an amazing organisation that is extremely important to me and to countless other young people getting stepping into their own musical path. I encourage you to check out what they're doing: www.girlsrocktoronto.org

'For the Birds' was a five song EP that Kat Burns released independently in 2005, in 300 hand made packages that she painstakingly put together. Cardboard covered in textured Japanese handmade paper and screen-printed... ambitious and a little nuts.! It's been out of print for years, but lives on digitally. It was a debut of sorts, and the first step up a steep learning curve in making music.

"Ten years later, I wanted to mark the occasion in a meaningful way. It seemed fitting to have artists that were especially important to me during my musical infancy covering the songs. I owe a lot to the people that are featured here. They are true, long friends, and really taught me a lot about writing music and becoming better at my craft and my art.

If GRCTO existed when I was a kid, this might have been a 20th anniversary edition! Thank you for your support over the years, and thank you for taking the time to read this. Enjoy the music. "
